OLD BYRON BAY ROAD

NEWRYBAR, NSW

Nestled in the stunning Byron Bay hinterland, this project on Old Byron Bay Road is a testament to the refined sophistication that Wak’a Designs brings to every space. Engaged by Archimages Architecture, our team was entrusted with the complete redesign, interior design, construction documentation, and project management, transforming this residence into a modern coastal retreat with expansive views from Seven Mile Beach to Lennox Head.

Gabriel Borges led the redesign, enhancing the structure to create an open, harmonious connection with the natural surroundings. His approach brought in floor-to-ceiling glazing, framing the scenic Byron hinterland, and incorporated blackened timber cladding and skillion roofs, adding a contemporary aesthetic that complements the landscape. Gabriel’s meticulous construction documentation ensured precision in every detail, setting a high standard from the exterior blackbutt cladding to the expansive ceilings and high-quality finishes throughout.

The interior design, led by Mohana Aspillaga, introduces a sophisticated mix of natural materials that elevate each space. Rich blackbutt timber joinery flows throughout, while limestone floors in the social areas and matching limestone tiles in the bathrooms establish a sense of continuity and elegance. The design features bold black natural stone surfaces in the kitchen and bathrooms, Broadware tapware, Windsor door hardware, ABI sinks, and timber ceilings—all chosen to embody a sophisticated yet grounded style.

In close collaboration with John Gray from Archimages Architecture, Wak’a Designs ensured a smooth process from start to finish. Our thorough documentation and regular site visits with Priestley Building reinforced our commitment to delivering excellence at each stage.

This project sets a new standard for luxury living on Old Byron Bay Road. With our expertise in project management, design, and meticulous attention to detail, Wak’a Designs has crafted a timeless retreat that beautifully blends coastal luxury with the natural landscape.
